Replace the Windows, energy efficiency gain

When carrying out a reform of the outside doors & windows, owners have always wondered the same;” is it worth me?” Refer to whether expenditure in the budget of the work offsets the benefits obtained and the energy bill savings.

Looking at it from the point 100% economic, I understand there are doubts ... How we know what we spend on energy consumed over a period of time and spend far from reform. Well it is said for some studies, reports, gurus, companies, etc., etc.
But honestly I prefer to analyze it from practice. So, what better way than a case in first person. We have renovated our house, and included changing old aluminum windows with simple glass by ones with more insulation and energy efficient.
For each case there are several variables, but better changing them, at least in house with more than 35-40 years, those of aluminum 3 cm. and single glazing with large boxes for the blinds. The only change made carpentry involves no direct savings, it is like you manage the energy you consume or need where saving occurs with this change we have another tool to help. And moreover as this reform is carried out.

From experience (December 2014) the replacement of the existing carpentry carpentry by a tilt swing aluminum thermal break and double glazing glass monoblock camera shutter; Of course we have improved this winter (2015) in:
Thermal insulation - lower heat loss by conduction (mostly)
Acoustic Insulation - reduction of external noise (traffic, neighborhood, etc.)
Comfort - more positions to use ventilation as stay.
Esthetics - removing big blind-box on the estates.
In this part of the coast (Marina Baja) winter lately is not very cold, it is true that we presume to have one of the best winters in Spain and why so many people from the rest of Spain and Europe come to spend the same here (fools are not). A tip; is not needed in this area to buy a carpentry engineer at NASA, but if you pay attention to your installation.
My advice:
Looking for a carpenter (who do this type of reforms) and a builder (who will listen and advise) ... Calls several budgets and compare.
If you choose to leave the frames and mount the new carpentry on them, adds no expandable polyurethane foam between the two carpenters. We will win in thermal and acoustic insulation in turn giving greater unity to the whole.

Open the box of the blind and adhered there a sheet of polyurethane foam (insulated thermally and acoustically).

The variation of different thicknesses of glass working together increases the acoustic wave range absorbed. Usually served 4 + 4 or 6 + 6 I opted for 4 + 6; I cannot remember where I read or hear.... But it Works!
